Four generations of families based in Quindío and the Valle del Cauca regions, Montenegro and Sevilla have spent years producing exceptional coffees before expanding to the Caicedonia municipality. Here they searched for a suitable location to produce high quality coffees and so the La Gaviota farm was established.
The first generations focused their efforts on high productivity and a clean cup, before diving into the specialty market through labels such as Rainforest Alliance USDA Organic. The third generation farmers concentrated on quality rather than quantity – seeking new markets for the coffees produced at their farms. During this time, the Manantiales del Frontino farm was acquired, where different varietals started to grow, adding diversity into the families’ offerings. With a keen focus on quality of processing the del Frontino farm placed first and third in Cup of Excellence 2018 with Gesha and Gesha-Bourbon lots.
